Mixed Feelings About “Reacher” Season 2

Mixed Feelings About “Reacher” Season 2

“Reacher” on Prime Video had me hooked with its gripping first season, but, for the second installment, my feelings are mixed.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️☆☆☆

While it retains some of the elements that made the initial season so compelling, it noticeably lacks the charm that initially drew me in.

The saving grace of “Reacher” Season 2 is undeniably the standout performance by Domenick Lombardozzi as the New York detective Russo. Lombardozzi consistently brings an intense and fiery energy to his roles, and his portrayal adds a layer of depth to the show that might otherwise have been missing. Russo’s character development and Lombardozzi’s skillful acting were a highlight in a sea of yawns.

Unfortunately, the charm and charisma that defined the first season rarely appears and the storytelling in Season 2 is most definitely less tight and cohesive, with some plotlines appearing disjointed and lacking the same level of intrigue. It’s as if the magic of the initial season struggled to find its footing in this continuation.

Despite these drawbacks, “Reacher” Season 2 still has its moments of suspense and action. The series manages to maintain a moderate level of entertainment, even if it falls short of the high expectations set by its predecessor. The cinematography and production values continue to be commendable, contributing to the overall visual appeal of the show.

While “Reacher” Season 2 certainly does fall short of the high standard set by its predecessor, it still possesses some commendable merits. For those who haven’t experienced the first season, the odds are higher that they will find enjoyment in the second installment, as it offers its own set of thrills and suspense.

However, for devoted fans of the initial season, the experience of Season 2 might leave them yearning for the magic and charm that made the show an initial success and leave them feeling like they should have bypassed this chapter in the “Reacher” saga.

Note: On January 29th, Prime Video will cease to be ad-free. If you’re interested in watching “Reacher” or any other shows on Prime, you might want to tune in before this change is implemented.
